How Thigh Lift Surgery Works
The goals of this procedure include:
- Tighter skin in the thigh area

This is an outpatient procedure typically performed under general anesthesia. Operating time is approximately 2 hours, or longer depending on the need for other body contouring procedures.
The thigh areas are marked before surgery. Anesthesia is administered, so you will be asleep during surgery. An incision is made in the inner crease of the thigh, where skin is removed as necessary. Liposuction will be used to remove fat before the skin is redraped and sutures are put in place to close the incisions.
After Thigh Lift Surgery
After surgery, you will be wrapped in gauze, tape and a special compression garment that promotes skin contraction. This will need to be worn for about 3 weeks. Surgical drains are placed to remove fluid that accumulates, which are typically removed after the first week. Dr. Heir will probably advise you to walk 24 hours after surgery to prevent blood clots. After about 2 weeks, you can resume light exercise. Complete recovery may require four to six weeks.
