How Neck Liposuction Works
Dr. Heir performs an examination of your neck and lower face to determine the proper course of action. If you are a good candidate, you can decide to proceed with liposuction.
On the day of surgery, your face, neck and chest are thoroughly cleansed and the areas for liposuction are marked. Local anesthesia is administered and small incisions are made on each side of the neck, or in a single location beneath the chin. The fat is saturated with tumescent solution, which makes it firmer and easier to remove. The subcutaneous fat between the skin and the plastysma muscle can be safely removed without damaging the surrounding nerves or blood vessels. As fat is dislodged, Dr. Heir removes it with a small suction assisted tube.
After Your Neck Liposuction Procedure
Recovery time is relatively short with neck liposuction. For the first 24 hours, you’ll be wrapped in tape and gauze, followed by an elastic chinstrap for about 3 days. You may want to plan on wearing high-necked clothing during the recovery period. As skin contraction and healing occur, and swelling subsides, you’ll see an improved neck contour emerge. A well-defined transition from your face to your neck will show and your appearance will greatly improve as a result.
